Ellas organic cloth pads are made of two parts: the base of the pad with wings that can be wrapped around the middle of the briefs and closed by means of a push button, and a removable liner that is secured by two cross braces at the top and bottom. The loops hold the liner firmly on the wearer and make changing the liner uncomplicated and quick. This way you can use the base of your sanitary pad several times in a row by simply exchanging the liner at the top.

Details: With good care, the washable organic sanitary pads last for several years. The number of sanitary pads you need depends on how heavy your periods are and how long they last. You can assume that you need the same quantity of cloth pads or liners per day as one way products. So, if you use 3 one way sanitary pads per day, we assume you will need 1 cloth pad per day and will change the liner 3 times a day. Ideally you’ll buy pads to change in addition to your cloth pad. Towards the end of your period you can also wear the sanitary pad without liner. In this case use it like a panty liner. The panty liners are equipped with an ultra thin PUL-layer (=Polyurethan laminated) on the inside which serves as leakage protection. This way you will always feel secure when wearing them.
In order to secure the sanitary pad, simply wrap the wings around the middle of your briefs and close them by means of the push button. The sanitary pad has two push buttons so you can decide whether you want to make the panty liner wider or narrower, according to the width of your briefs.
Another tip: After wearing your cloth pad, just rinse it briefly under cold water, hang it up to dry and then wash it in the washing machine at 60 degrees with the rest of your laundry. This makes your sanitary pad hygienically clean again. Heavily soiled sanitary pads benefit from being washed in the washing machine more frequently, from being soaked in water (e.g. carbonated water) for longer and dried in the sun. Don’t worry: If you add your sanitary pad to the laundry when it is dry, there is no risk of your other clothes getting stained.
Important: In the first wash, your cloth pad may shrink by up to 5%, this is perfectly normal due to the high cotton content.
When you’re out: You can also use your cloth pad when you are out! In our practical wet and dry pouch there is a compartment to securely store your used sanitary pad or liner and a compartment for your clean sanitary pad/liner, for when you’re out.
By the way: Our comfort briefs made of organic fair cotton go perfectly with the cloth pad! You can attach the cloth pads to them and they won’t shift. Thanks to the breathable organic cotton there is no sweating or sticking.
